Reverse Phone Number Search

May 29th, 2007

Reverse Phone Number Search - What is it about?

FindCall has been introduced to 2 different providers of this service. Reverse Phone Detective and Phonenumberscan.com

The key features of both are that through reverse phone lookup you are able to:

  • Get INSTANT ACCESS to owner information,
  • address history,
  • carrier, and location details for any phone number.

Reverse phone number search involves querying a database that includes cell, residential, business, pager, toll-free, and unlisted numbers.

Why would you want to use this service? We thought about it and came up with a number of interesting reasons:

  • Trace crank calls
  • Check the legitimacy of 0800 and other premium rate numbers.
  • Investigate suspicious phone numbers
  • Get more information about frequently received ’unknown’ numbers

FindCall readers can get a demo of the system here. Enter the number you wish to locate details on. The form is 100% secure and the number you are performing the reverse number search on will not know.

Intro to Concerns About Cell Phone Tracking

February 14th, 2007

Although there are many advantages to cell phone GPS tracking there are also privacy concerns. As most people carry their cell phone with them at all times, the ability is in place to track the exact movements of all individuals. Is this a case of Big
Brother, and who can access to this information?

Cell Phone GPS tracking can prove useful in many walks of life and especially when an emergency arises. Picture the scene of a road accident where injuries have occurred. A 911 call made from a GPS cell phone would significantly speed up the arrival of the emergency services if the GPS signal from the cell phone can be pin-pointed to an exact location. This feature alone could save many lives.

For these reasons the FCC has instructed that wireless network providers provide the cell phone GPS tracking location
information for 911 calls which have been made from cell phones. This is known as E911. In essence this is no different than a
911 call made from a land line, as the land line is registered to an address and the relevant emergency services can be quickly
dispatched to that address.

February 5th, 2007

From ABI Research

Satellite Phone Tracking System

Satelinx enters final testing stage of GPS/Satellite phone tracking system.

satelinx phone tracking system"GPS/GSM tracking systems, while being extremely effective, are limited to GSM coverage. Our new system which is slated to go into production by late spring would enable locating personal assets worldwide, using satellite phone technology, therefore removing any boundaries previously held by GSM coverage. While the retail price has yet to be determined, Satelinx feels that the cost involved will be outweighed by the ability to track any asset woldwide," stated Sam Grinfeld, Chairman of the Board of Satelinx.

Verizon Extends Chaperone Family Locator Service

January 25th, 2007

verizon family chaperone gps trackingVerizon Wireless today announced a full lineup of handsets that are capable of being located through its Chaperone family locator service. Chaperone, which has previously been available only on the green LG Migo phone, gives families an added peace of mind while helping locate each other’s wireless phones. Chaperone family locator service is available today on the following Verizon Wireless handsets: the LG 3450L, perfect for pre-teens who want their own mobile phone, and the LG VX8300, LG Chocolate and the Motorola KRZR K1m, all perfect choices for a teenager or other family member who wants a phone that looks like it was designed for an adult.

Based on Global Positioning System (GPS) data, Chaperone is designed to supplement the parameters family members have already established with each other through two options, Chaperone Family Locator and Chaperone with Child Zone. When it first became available in June of 2006, Chaperone with Child Zone marked the first time a wireless service allowed parents to establish predetermined areas in which a family member could travel with their phone where the parent would be automatically alerted about the location of the device when it entered or left the defined area. Features of these services include:
